D3football.com released its 2022 All-American Teams Friday night and Lake Forest College senior Doug Antonucci was among the honorees.
The announcement came just before the start of the Stagg Bowl, the NCAA Division III Championship Game between North Central College and Mount Union University.
Antonucci, a senior, was named Second Team All-American as a special teams player. Lake Forest led the nation with eight blocked punts this fall and Antonucci accounted for half of them. The first three set up the Foresters deep in their opponents' territory and the fourth went out the back of the end zone for a safety. He also recovered one of the team's other four blocks, made seven tackles on kickoff returns, and served as a blocker in the backfield for Lake Forest's punter.
Antonucci was one of 15 players on the team to be named All-Midwest Conference and among five to earn D3football.com All-Region honors this fall. The 2022 Foresters finished posted an overall record of 9-2 and went 8-1 in Midwest Conference play to complete the first back-to-back conference title run in program history. They also made a second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
