Lake Forest College football player Trenton Brail was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week on Monday for his performance in Saturday's 48-14 victory over Knox College.
The highlight of the day for Brail came on the final play of the opening half. A Prairie Fire pass was tipped over the intended receiver and directly to Brail at the Forester 19. The junior safety made a diagonal across the field, headed up the left side, and avoided a potential tackler at the 15 before stumbling into the end zone.
The interception was Brail's first of the season and the third of his career while the 81-yard return is the fourth-longest in program history.
Brail also contributed to another of the Foresters' three interceptions on the day, delivering a well-timed hit to the Knox receiver that jarred the ball loose and into the hands of a teammate. In addition, he made four tackles on the afternoon, including his first career tackle for loss.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors.
