Lake Forest College swimmer Lauren Dalecky was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her performance in last weekend's Midwest Conference Championship Meet at Grinnell College.
Dalecky, a senior, captured conference titles in both breaststroke events. She touched the wall first in the 100-breaststroke on Saturday and her time of 1:06.53 tied the program record she set as a sophomore. It was her first career MWC championship in an individual event. Her winning time of 2:24.15 in Sunday's 200-breaststroke was a lifetime-best and ranks her third in team history. In addition, Dalecky finished fifth in the league in the 50-freestyle on Friday and now ranks fifth in school history in that event as well.
In addition to her success in individual events over the weekend, Dalecky also helped lead Forester relays to four runner-up performances. The team's times in the 200-freestyle and 200-medley relays each rank third in program history while the marks in the 400-medley and 400-freestyle are now fifth in team annals.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Dalecky also earned the award once as a sophomore.
