Lake Forest College swimmer Orion Huey was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for his performance at the Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular on Saturday.
Huey, a senior, won the 200-backstroke at the meet, finishing in 1:57.85, more than a second ahead of the runner-up from host Wheaton College.
Also a member of both of the Foresters' relay teams, Huey helped Lake Forest place third in the 400-medley relay in 3:39.15 and was the anchor on the victorious 400-freestyle relay team that finished with the best time in the conference so far this year at 3:12.95. He started the final leg .02 seconds behind first-place Hope College but posted a 100-freestyle split nearly two seconds faster than that from the runners-up.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information.
