Valdivia, Pasiewicz, and Pompey Named First Team All-Region

D3football.com released its 2016 All-Region Teams on Monday and Lake Forest College's Joey Valdivia, Alex Pasiewicz, and R.J. Pompey were First Team All-West Region selections.

Valdivia, a senior running back, led the nation with 29 rushing rouchdowns and 30 touchdowns overall. He ran for a program record 1,535 yards in 10 games and ranked fourth in the country in rushing yards per contest. His 7.14 rushing yards per attempt was the 10th-best mark in the nation and he also finished 10th in the country with 174.6 all-purpose yards per game. Valdivia scored at least one touchdown in every game and ran for 100 or more yards and at least two touchdowns nine times this year.

Pasiewicz, a senior, was the Foresters' top receiver but earned First Team All-West Region status as a returner. There were two players in the nation with three kickoff return touchdowns and 10 with a pair of scores on punt returns and Pasiewicz was the only member of both lists. He also finished 10th in the country with 29.9 yards per kickoff return and 19th with 12.9 yards per punt return. Pasiewicz finished third in the nation with 997 combined kick return yards and with his 192.9 all-purpose yards per game. He was also tied-for-25th with 16 total touchdowns on the season.

Pompey, a junior safety, was named First Team All-West Region for his work on special teams. His four blocked kicks on the season were just one off the national lead and he also served as a blocker on punts and made five tackles on kickoff returns this year. Pompey finished as the Foresters' leading tackler with 69 stops on the season.

Prior to 2016, four Lake Forest players had earned a combined five all-region honors in D3football.com's 12 seasons of choosing the teams. The Foresters never had multiple players listed on the all-region teams in the same season and Valvidia, Pasiewicz, and Pompey are the program's only first team selections. All three players had also earned First Team All-Midwest Conference honors last month.

Lake Forest posted an 8-2 overall record and a 6-2 mark in MWC play this season.
