Lake Forest College's R.J. Pompey was named to D3football.com's Team of the Week on Tuesday for his performance at St. Norbert College on Saturday.
Pompey, a junior safety, was the special teams representative on the Team of the Week after blocking a 26-yard field goal and a 47-yarder in the fourth quarter of the 35-21 loss to the Green Knights. He also finished the contest with six tackles, including one on a kickoff return, and a pass breakup.
Pompey has now blocked four kicks this season and five in his career. He is also tied for the team lead with 27 tackles and ranks second on the squad with five pass breakups.
The D3football Team of the Week is comprised of a starting lineup on offense and defense as well as a kicker, punter, returner, and special teams player. Pompey joins senior wide receiver and kick returner Alex Pasiewicz and running back Joey Valdivia as 2016 honorees and Forester players have now made the list 18 times since 1999.
