The Lake Forest College volleyball team posted a pair of three-set victories over Knox College at home on Saturday, outscoring the Prairie Fire 25-20, 25-14, 25-16 in the first contest and 25-15, 25-15, 25-22 in the second.
Forester freshman Mary Gegen reached double figures in kill in both matches. After leading all players with 13 in the opener, she added a dozen more while posting a .524 hitting percentage in match two. She also served up three aces on the afternoon.
Senior Olivia Smith was next on the team with 20 kills on the day, including a match-high 15 in the second contest. She also finished with 11 digs and two blocks in the first match and three aces in the second.
Sophomore Madison Stevens also reached double figures in match two with a season-high 10 kills.
With 38 assists in the second contest, senior setter Allyson Richards set a career-high for the third time this season. She had 23 assists in the early match and added eight kills on the afternoon.
The Lake Forest defense was led by sophomore libero Izzi Visnjevac, who racked up a total of 44 digs and tied her career-high for a three-set match with 26 in the opener.
The Foresters'.343 hitting percentage in match two was their highest since September 17, 2014.
The victories raised Lake Forest's record on the season to 3-1 while Knox fell to 0-4.
The Foresters will host Ripon College for Senior Night next Friday at 7:00 p.m.
