Despite taking an early lead, the Lake Forest women's soccer team fell to the St. Mary's Belles in their home opener on Saturday.
The Foresters were able to get on the board first with a goal from senior Julie Larson. Junior Raven Dziedzinski took the ball down the field all the way to the goal, passed to Larson, who put the goal into the lower right of the goal, right passed the goalie. That was the only goal in the first 45 minutes of play.
St. Mary's tied things up early in the second half, scoring a goal in the 54th minute. They took the lead in the 67th minute.
Dziedzinski brought the score to 2-2 in the 80th minute; she was assisted by Alyssa Xanos. Her goal sent the game into overtime, where the Belles scored their game-winning goal.
The Foresters are now 1-1 on the season. They play again on Sunday, September 5 against Concordia University Chicago at 12 PM.
