During the Friday Prelim session of the 2019 Carthage Classic Invitational, junior Susan Guo broke her own 100 Butterfly school record with a time of 57.62. The Foresters competed at the Invitational over the weekend, and both the men's and women's squads finished second overall.

Guo's teammate freshman Violet Anderson finished the 100 Fly in a prelim time of 57.91, which ranks her second in program history. The two women went on to place 1, 2 in the 100 Fly in Finals; Anderson finished first and Guo second, with only .01 seconds separating the two. Senior Rachel Trevillian joined the two in the top 5, placing fourth overall in the event.

Guo also updated the team's history in the 100 Freestyle with her time of 53.44, which ranks her fourth in the team annals; she placed fourth in the event at the meet. She also placed third overall in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:56.70.

Among the other highlights of the meet for the women, Anderson finished up her individual events with two second places in the 200 IM (2:13.05) and 200 Fly (2:11.02). Trevillian followed up her 100 Fly performance with a second-place finish in the 400 IM (4:48.62) and a third-place finish in the 200 Fly (2:11.66). Sophomore Kerry Mullen also finished in the top 5 for her 50 Free, completing the race in a time of 24.90.

On the men's side of the meet, Junior Max Rowland posted the first Forester victory of the meet by placing first in the 1650 Freestyle during the Thursday evening session with a time of 16:26.86, a time that ranks him fourth in the team's history; his time for the first 1000 of the race was 9:54.90, the second fastest 1000 time in team history. Teammates Alec Pittman and Aaron Helms made it a 1, 2, 3 finish for the Foresters; Pittman completed the mile in a time of 16:38.74 and Helms in a time of 16:41.09.

The three milers raced together again in the 500 Free, all finishing in the top 5. Pittman placed second with a time of 4:45.82, only .06 behind the top finisher. Rowland placed fourth with a 4:49.05, and Helms finished right behind him in fifth with a time of 4:49.78. Rowland and Pittman both competed in the 400 IM on Saturday, this time placing second and third overall, respectively. Rowland finished with a time of 4:13.66, and Pittman stopped the clock at 4:13.74. Helms competed in the 200 Fly on Saturday and ended the race in fifth place with a final time of 2:00.36.

The Forester men had a number of other highlights from the meet. Junior Marcus-Carter Buckman placed first overall in both of the 100 (52.70) and 200 (1:58.60) backstroke events. Junior Evan Weller and senior Zeb Thorsen were right behind Carter-Buckman in the 200 Backstroke, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

The men's team finished their part of the meet with a bang by winning the 400 Freestyle Relay. Carter-Buckman, Rowland, junior Nathan Ulm, and sophomore Graeme Wtitte combined to win the event with a time of 3:12.61. This was the best finish of the meet for any Forester relay.

The diving portion of the meet was held in between preliminary and final sessions on Saturday. Senior Lizzie Johns prevailed on the 3-meter board, winning the event with a score of 376.05. She was also the Forester's top finisher on the 1-meter, placing second overall with a score of 380.71. Junior Naqi Rizvi represented the Forester men on 1- and 3-meter, finishing fourth overall on both.

Both the men's and women's teams finished second overall, placing below only Carthage College.

It was the final meet of the fall semester for Lake Forest. The team's next competition will be a dual meet at Soka University in California on Sunday, January 5, during the team's training trip.
