Foresters Finish First Against Carroll

Foresters Finish First Against Carroll

The Foresters came home victorious from their meet against Carroll University this Saturday. The men finished first in all but one of the events at the meet, and the women won 7 out of the 11 events.

The victories were numerous on the men's side, and the Foresters put on excellent races in their relays and individual events.

Notable performances came from junior Nathan Ulm, who placed first in every event he swam, including the 400 Medley and 400 Free Relays. He also placed first in the 100 Backstroke. Junior Marcus Carter-Buckman was on the men's winning 400 Medley Relay; he touched the wall first in his only individual event of the day, the 200 Individual Medley. Wracking up his own two wins was sophomore Jack Thompson, who was the breaststroke leg of winning 400 Medley Relay and who won the 500 Freestyle.

On the women's side, the Foresters started off the meet with a bang, coming from behind in the 400 Medley Relay to out touch Carroll for first. Junior Fallon Longfield, freshmen Vanessa Ordaz and Violet Anderson, and sophomore Kerry Mullen combined for the victory with a time of 4:16.62, putting the Foresters in an early lead in what would be a close meet.

Junior Susan Guo followed up the relay's win with a first place of her own in the 1000 Freestyle. Anderson and Mullen followed up their relay performances with two individual wins in the 200 Free and the 50 Free, respectively. Sophomore Sarah Burchart was the next victorious Forester of the meet in her 100 Free event, out-touching her teammate Guo by .01 seconds for first place. Ordaz went on to win the last individual event for the meet in the 100 breaststroke.

The combined efforts of Guo, sophomore Kylie Morgan, Anderson, and Mullen capped off a great meet for the Women with their winning 400 Free Relay.

The men finished the meet with 98 points to Carroll's 51, and the women beat the Pioneers 120 to 85. Both squads will travel to Monmouth University next Saturday, November 9, to compete at the Monmouth Invitational.
