Swimmer Max Rowland was voted Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance at last weekend's Midwest Conference Championship Meet at Grinnell College.
Rowland captured a pair of conference titles in individual events and another in a relay to help lead the Lake Forest men to a runner-up finish.
The sophomore began Friday's finals session by swimming the second leg on the Foresters' victorious 200-freestyle relay team. Later in the evening he led the team's 1-2-3 finish in the 500-freestyle with a school record time of 4:38.81, nearly two seconds faster than the previous mark.
Rowland was atop a 1-2 finish for Lake Forest in the 400-IM on Saturday, completing the race in 4:07.53, which ranks him third in team history. He also turned in the Foresters' fastest split as the team placed second in the 800-freestyle relay.
Lake Forest posted another 1-2-3 finish in Sunday's 1650-freestyle with Rowland placing third. His time of 16:27.00 ranks him fourth in program history and he is now third on the all-time list in the 1000-freestyle for his 9:55.87 split at that point in the race. He then closed out the weekend by swimming the second leg of the Foresters' runner-up performance in the 400-freestyle relay.
Rowland finished the weekend having accounted for 83 of Lake Forest's 741 points at the meet.
