Men's tennis player Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after prevailing at #1 singles in Saturday's season opener at North Central College.
Vyshyvanyuk dropped the first set 6-2 but rebounded by taking the second by the same score. He then came out on top 10-6 in the third set super tie breaker to post the victory and earn the Foresters' only team point of the night.
The victory improved Vyshyvanyuk's career singles record to 11-2 with victories each of the three times a third set super tiebreaker was necessary to decide the match.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department staff on Thursdays. Vyshyvanyuk also earned the award once last March.
