Five Foresters Earn All-MWC Honors

Five Foresters Earn All-MWC Honors

Lake Forest College's Seton Trostle and Elyas Ingram were among the first team selections as the Midwest Conference released the 2017 All-MWC Men's Soccer Teams on Monday.

Ingram, a senior, moved from defender to forward during the season and scored six goals, led the Foresters with seven assists, and tied for the team lead with 19 points. He also led the MWC with five assists and tied for second in the conference with six goals during the nine-game league schedule. Ingram finished his four years with 54 career points and ranks fourth in program history with 28 assists. He was also a First Team All-MWC honoree in 2014 and 2016 and a Second Team selection as a sophomore.

Trostle, a senior midfielder, scored a team-high eight goals this season and added an assist for 17 points. Five of his scores came during conference play and he finished the year ranked fourth in the MWC in goals per league game and sixth in points per MWC contest. Thirty-two of his 44 career points came during the last two seasons.

Fellow Foresters John Cappuccitti, Gaston Aubert, and Lucas Geib were Second Team All-MWC selections in 2017. Cappuccitti, a senior forward/midfielder, had 14 points on four goals and six assists in just 14 games this season. The 2016 MWC Offensive Player of the Year ranked second in the league in assists per game and sixth in points per contest this fall. He completed his three years at the College with 61 points on 24 goals and 13 assists. Aubert, a junior forward/midfielder, tied Ingram for the team lead this season with 19 points on seven goals and five assists. He scored the first goal in both of Lake Forest's MWC Tournament triumphs and in the team's NCAA Division III Tournament game at the University of Chicago on Saturday. Aubert was also a Second Team All-MWC selection last year. Geib a sophomore forward, scored seven goals and assisted on four others for 18 points in as many games this season. He tied Cappuccitti for sixth in the league in points per game and was tied-for-eighth in goals per contest.

The five All-MWC selections in all matched the program's highest total since 1995.

Lake Forest finished the 2017 season with a 12-7-1 overall record. The Foresters were 7-2-0 in conference play and defeated St. Norbert College 2-1 and Grinnell College 2-0 to claim their third MWC Tournament title in the last five years. The team made its eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament but was defeated at the University of Chicago in the opening round.
