Junior goalkeeper Tero Elias made a career-high 15 saves but the Lake Forest College men's soccer team was defeated 1-0 at Hope College on Friday. It was the season opener for both teams.
Elias made three saves early in the game before the home team scored the only goal of the contest at the 8:20 mark. He stopped the only other shot the Flying Dutchmen put on goal in the first half before adding 11 saves in the final 45 minutes.
Lake Forest attempted eight shots to Hope's seven in the opening half. The home team had a 14-11 advantage in that category after halftime.
The Foresters will continue their season-opening trip to Michigan with a game at Calvin College Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (ET).
