The Lake Forest College men's basketball team was defeated 78-72 at Wisconsin Lutheran College Tuesday night.
All but 20 of the Foresters' points came from three players. Sophomore wing Johnny Roeser all players in the game with 20 and added eight rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Freshman guard Zach Foster knocked down five of six attempts from three-point range and was next on the squad with 17 while freshman wing Adam Weingard posted his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 boards. He also dished out five assists, one shy of freshman guard Andre Bennett's team-high total.
Lake Forest set season-highs by shooting 43.3 percent from the field, making 10 three-pointers, and tallying 19 assists. Wisconsin Lutheran shot 46.2 percent and out-rebounded the visitors 39-34.
The Foresters led by as many as 10 points in the opening period and were ahead 38-35 going into the locker room at halftime.
Foster's first two three-pointers of the night restored Lake Forest's 10-point cushion with 15:43 to play but a 20-1 run by the Warriors gave them a 59-50 advantage with nine minutes left. Foster made two more three-pointers during a 10-2 Forester run that pulled the visitors to within one at 61-60. They got no closer, however, as Wisconsin Lutheran scored the next nine points and kept their guests at arm's length the rest of the way.
The loss dropped the Foresters' record to 0-6 while Wisconsin Lutheran will enter Saturday's Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference championship game with an overall mark of 10-3.
Lake Forest will host Concordia University Chicago Saturday at 5:00 p.m. before closing out the season against visiting Aurora University next Tuesday night at 7:00.
