Sophomore guard Jordan Moran shot 10-for-11 from the field and scored a game-high 21 points in the Lake Forest College men's basketball team's 79-51 victory at Knox College on Saturday.
Moran and senior guard Mike Rueffer each scored six points as the visitors jumped out to a 12-4 lead. After a basket by the home team, four other Foresters scored during a 10-0 run that made the score 22-6 less than nine minutes into the contest. The margin reached 20 points late in the opening period and Lake Forest led 41-25 at halftime.
Knox closed to within 13 points three times early in the second half but got no closer. The lead grew throughout the half and reached 32 points after a 14-1 run late in the contest.
Forester junior guard Eric Porter finished with 18 points on 6-for-13 shooting from three-point range and sophomore forward Danny Sotos also reached double figures with 10 points. Rueffer and senior forward Jim Schick were next on the team with eight points apiece and they led all players in the game with nine rebounds and five assists, respectively.
Lake Forest shot 53.3 percent from the floor while allowing the Prairie Fire to connect on just 38.2 percent of their field goal attempts. The Foresters outscored the home team 30-15 from beyond the arc and had a commanding 41-27 advantage on the boards.
The victory improved the Foresters' overall record on the year to 10-7 and they are now 8-4 in Midwest Conference play. Knox fell to 1-16 overall and 1-11 in the league.
Lake Forest will be in action again Tuesday night at Beloit College. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
