Randy Wright

Randy Wright joined the Forester coaching staff in 2021 and works spcifically with the team's defensive linemen.

Lake Forest posted an 8-1 record in Midwest Conference play in 2022, claiming a league title and advancing to the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the second year in a row. First Team All-MWC defensive end Alex Bendler led the conference and ranked among the top 20 nationally with 20.5 tackles for loss and 11.0 sacks. Fellow defensive end Justin Albee joined Bendler on the league first team while defensive tackle Jaylen Johnson earned second team honors. Forester defensive linemen combined for 201 tackles, 68 tackles for loss, 22 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, and 5 recoveries.

During the spring of 2021 Wright was the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Wendell Phillips Academy High School in Chicago and helped lead the Wildcats to a 3-1 record.

Wright spent eight of the previous nine years as an assistant coach at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. He was the Jumbos' co-defensive coordinator from 2014 to 2020 and served specifically as the defensive line coach, linebackers coach, and special teams coordinator during his tenure. Tufts was 33-26 with Wright on staff.

Wright's coaching career began at Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois. He served as the team's defensive backs coach in 2011 before becoming the linebackers coach at Tufts the following season. He was also the linebackers coach and special teams coordinator at Earlham College for a season before returning to Tufts in 2014.

A 2011 graduate of Elmhurst College, Wright drew the interest of NFL teams as an All-American linebacker. He was a three-time all-region and all-conference selection and, despite playing just three years for the Bluejays, he graduated as the program's career leader with 49.0 tackles for loss and ranked third in team history in tackles (313) and fourth in sacks (20.0).

Wright resides in Oak Park, Illinois.
