The Intercollegiate Tennis Association recently released the list of 2014-15 ITA Scholar Athletes as well as this year's All-Academic Teams. Four Forester women earned the individual honor and Lake Forest also made the cut as a team.
The four individuals were senior Leslie Walton, junior Emily Rabin, sophomore Lexi Chionis, and freshman Samantha Ryczek. Walton also earned the honor each of the last two years while Rabin, Chionis, and Ryczek are appearing on the list for the first time. Lake Forest's team honor is also a first for the women's program.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2014 and spring 2015).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Lake Forest was 14-12 overall and 7-3 in Midwest Conference play last season. The Foresters qualified for the four-team MWC Tournamentfor the fifth year in a row.
