The Forester women's basketball team prevailed 75-63 at Ripon College on Saturday, eight days after routing the Red Hawks 76-46 at home. Senior guard Aimee Lockwood was one of four Lake Forest players to score in double figures.
Lockwood had 11 points in the contest and tied for team-high honors with seven rebounds and four assists. Sophomore guards Sam Schuring and Alex Messacar and senior guard Emily Weber finished 15 points apiece and combined with Lockwood to shoot 7-for-13 from three-point range. Schuring matched Lockwood's four assists and Weber her seven rebounds.
Lake Forest shot a season-high 54.3 percent from the field and 56.3 percent (9-for-16) from beyond the arc. The Foresters out-rebounded the home team 33-18, helping to make up for committing 21 turnovers to the Red Hawks' 17.
Schuring and Weber each scored 10 points during a first half that included three ties and four lead changes. Lake Forest led by as many as six points early in the perior and Ripon had a five-point advantage until a Forester free throw in the final minute made the score 36-32 in favor of the home team at halftime.
The Forester trailed by three in the second half before a 20-5 run during a six-and-a-half-minute span put gave the visitors a 55-43 lead. A 7-0 Red Hawk run later in the period trimmed the margin to five but was followed up by 12 straight Lake Forest points that put the game out of reach.
Lake Forest is now 7-7 overall and 5-4 in Midwest Conference play. Ripon fell to 4-11 overall and 3-7 in league play.
