Lake Forest College diver Heath Ogawa placed eighth off the 1-meter board at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet on Friday.
The top eight finishers in each event are named All-American and Ogawa's eighth-place finish is the best by a diver in the Forester men's team's history and the best by a Lake Forest male in any event since Dan Tarkowski was seventh in the 100-freestyle in 1995.
Ogawa posted a score of 448.15 points in Friday's 1-meter diving trials, good for seventh place in the 24-diver field and a spot in the evening finals. He finished with 419.35 points in the finals and placed eighth.
Including his 13th-place finish in Wednesday's 3-meter competition, Ogawa earned 15 team points for Lake Forest, which places the team tied-for-34th at the meet with Saturday's events remaining.
