Lake Forest College swimmer Kristofer Korth was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance at the A3 Carthage Classic last weekend.
Korth, a senior, swam the fastest times in the Midwest Conference so far this season in four individual events at Carthage. On Friday he finished second at the meet in the 400-IM in 4:11.44 and was also the runner-up in the 500-freestyle with a career-best time of 4:47.89. His first individual event on Saturday was the 200-IM, where he placed fourth but posted another career-best time of 1:59.51. Korth then turned in the team's only victory of the weekend in the 200-breaststroke, where his time of 2:07.77 was more than three-and-a-half seconds ahead of the runner-up.
The Foresters also recorded league-best times in four relays over the weekend, including three that included Korth. He swam the breaststroke leg on the fourth-place teams that completed the 200-medley relay in 1:39.18 and the 400-medley relay in 3:36.94. In between he anchored the 400-freestyle relay team that was fifth at the meet in 3:17.72.
Korth is the two-time defending league champion in both breaststroke events and was third in the 400-IM at each of the last two MWC Championships.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Korth also earned the honor twice during his sophomore season.
