The Midwest Conference released the 2011 All-MWC Softball Teams on Thursday and three Lake Forest sophomores made the list. Aubrey Pendegraft, Ashley Cuthbert, and Kelly Chesnut earned All-MWC South honors and Pendegraft was named the division's Co-Player of the Year.
Pendegraft was the Foresters' third baseman for every inning of each of the team's 32 games on the season. She batted .383 with six home runs and a team-high 12 doubles and 30 runs batted in. She was even more successful in a dozen conference games, posting a .556 batting average with eight doubles, four home runs, 15 runs scored, 21 RBI, and a 1.044 slugging percentage.
Cuthbert, an outfielder and catcher, belted a team-high seven home runs on the season, despite missing 10 games due to illness. Her .465 batting average ranked fourth in program history and her .831 slugging percentage second. She hit .514 with three homers and nine RBI in 10 league contests.
Chesnut was Lake Forest's most effective pitcher, posting a 2.86 earned run average in 20 appearances, including 10 starts. She struck out 60 hitters in 83-1/3 innings and opponents batted just .268 against her. Chesnut appeared in six conference games and registered a 3-0 record with a shutout, a save, and a miniscule 0.30 earned run average.
The Foresters were 14-18 overall and 9-3 in MWC play in 2011. They qualified for the four-team MWC Championship Tournament for the 12th year in a row.
