Lake Forest College softball player Ashley Cuthbert was named Midwest Conference Position Player of the Week on Monday after reaching base safely on 11 of 17 plate appearances in the Foresters' last five games.
Cuthbert, a sophomore catcher and outfielder, started the week with a 2-for-5 performance in a doubleheader split with visiting Elmhurst College on Wednesday. She was 1-for-3 in the opener and 1-2 with a walk, double, and two runs scored in game two.
Lake Forest defeated Illinois College 10-2 in five innings at home on Saturday and Cuthbert was 2-for-2 with another walk, double, and run scored in the contest.
The Foresters split a doubleheader with visiting Monmouth College on Sunday. Cuthbert was 2-for-4 with a run scored in game one and 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in game two.
Cuthbert has a team-high .510 batting average so far this season and also leads the squad with five home runs, a .918 slugging percentage, and a .556 on-base percentage.
