Freshman Parker Hill was one of two Foresters to shoot a team-best 78 on Friday at the Midwest Conference Championship Tournament. Lake Forest remained in second place after the second of three days of competition.
Hill and fellow freshman Ricky Schmidt shared the seventh-best round in the 46-player field. Hill is now tied-for-eighth overall with a two-day total of 158 while Schmidt climbed into a tie for 10th at 159.
Sophomore Davis DeKorte continues to lead Lake Forest and ranks tied-for-second in the field. His round of 79 on Friday gave him a two-day score of 152 and he trails the leader by a dozen shots.
Forester freshman Elijah Collins, whose score of 78 on Thursday was his best round of the year by three strokes, shot an 80 on Friday and is tied-for-eighth with Hill.
Sophomores Jacob Soyka and Durham Ghelfi each needed 85 shots to complete the 6615-yard, par-72 course on Friday. They are tied-for-27th and tied-for-31st, respectively, going into Saturday's final round.
The Foresters' team score of 315 on Friday was the second-lowest in the eight-team fied and their two-day total of 627 trails only Carroll University's 601. Monmouth College is in third place at 635, two shots ahead of defending champion St. Norbert College.
Saturday's round is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
