Foresters Listed Third in MWC Preseason Coaches Poll
Posted: Oct 31, 2016
The Midwest Conference released its 2016-17 Men's Basketball Coaches Poll on Monday and Lake Forest College was the third-place team in the rankings.
Voting is done by the MWC head men's basketball coaches. Each coach votes for the other nine schools in the league in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (nine points for first, eight for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.
The Foresters return their top seven scorers from last season, including two-time Second Team All-MWC selection Jim Schick, who led the league with 10.8 rebounds per game and ranked ninth in the conference with 15.6 points per contest. Lake Forest finished 2015-16 12-11 overall and 10-8 in MWC play. The Foresters finished fourth in the league standings and qualified for the MWC Tournament for the first time since capturing the league title in 2012.
The Foresters will open the 2016-17 season against visiting Coe College on Tuesday, November 15. They will begin conference play at home against Beloit College a week later and play 16 league games. The top four teams in the conference will qualify for the MWC Tournament, which will be hosted by the league champion February 24-25.
