Lake Forest Maintains Hold of Second Place on Day Two of MWC Championships

Sophomore Amanda Lee posted the second-best 18-hole score in program history on Saturday and the Foresters remained in second place after day two of three at the 2018 Midwest Conference Championship Tournament.

Lee carded a 2-over 75 on Saturday, matching Nina Kouchi of Grinnell College for the best round of the day in the 31-player field. It was two shots better than her previous career-best and two strokes off the team record set by Allie Girard in 2016. Lee is now in fourth place in the tournament with a 36-hole score of 160, which ranks third in the program's five-year history.

Fellow sophomore Faith Jung is next on the team and sixth overall at 167 after completing Saturday's round in 83 shots. Her two-day score matched the sixth-lowest mark in team history.

Junior Cece Cruz is tied-for-16th after posting a score of 88 on Friday and 95 on Saturday. Senior Anheyte Guajardo ranks tied-for-24th in the field after a 96 in the first round and a 97 in the second. Freshman Sophia Levinson is 30th after improving by six shots from Friday to Saturday with a 98.

Grinnell leads the team standings with a two-day total of 642, 61 strokes ahead of the Foresters. After a 353 on Friday and 35 on Saturday, Lake Forest is ahead of third-place Monmouth College by 14 shots while Illinois College ranks fourth at 725 and St. Norbert College fifth at 726.

Sunday's final round is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
