Freshman Sophia Levinson turned in the only birdie of the day and the Forester women's golf team defeated Benedictine University 367-391 on Friday.
Levinson carded a four on the 429-yard, par-5 seventh hole. She completed the front nine in 47 shots and the back in 44 for a 91, which was tied-for-second out of a dozen players. Senior Anhayte Guajardo also finished with a 91 after going out in 43 and needing 48 on the way in.
The top round of the event was turned in by Lake Forest sophomore Faith Jung with an 87. Four of her six pars on the day came on the front nine, which she completed in just 42 strokes. She has led the team in each of its three rounds so far this season and owns a scoring average of 87.33.
Junior Yuka Kawata was the Foresters' fourth golfer on Friday with a 98 while classmate Cece Cruz and freshman Isabel Doane finished with scores of 100 and 112, respectively.
The dual match victory is Lake Forest's third in as many events against Benedictine in the last two years and the Foresters are now 15-0 in that format since the start of the program in 2014. The event was originially scheduled to be played at Lake Bluff Golf Club but, due to course conditions caused by recent rainstorms, was moved to the 6,080-yard, par-72 course at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois.
The Foresters' next event will be Elmhurst College's Bluejay Invitational next Tuesday.
