Senior Jonathan Stern placed fifth in the 5000m run for the Lake Forest College track team at Grand Valley State University's Mike Lints Open on Saturday.
Stern completed the race in 15:25.68 for the top finish by a Forester on the day.
Freshman Yaneli Guajardo, who won the 800m run in 2:28.52 a week ago, improved by nearly six second to 2:22.83 while finishing 17th out of 39 competitors this Saturday. She turned in the best finish for the Lake Forest women, ahead of junior Emily Staufer's 27th place in the 3000m run (10:52.84).
On the men's side junior Christian Aldana was 20th in the mile with a time of 4:27.18 and classmate Jorge Villanueva finished 23rd in the 3000m run at 9:06.98.
NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan University's women and Division II Grand Valley State's men won the meet, which included teams from several different divisions of the NCAA and NAIA.
Lake Forest's first varsity track (distance only) season since 1973 will continue next Saturday at the Ripon College Invitational, which will begin at 11:00 a.m.
