The 2022 Lake Forest College softball schedule was released on Wednesday.
The Foresters plan to open the season indoors at The Dome at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois. Dates and opponents have yet to be announced.
Lake Forest will once again participate in The Spring Games in the Orlando, Florida, area over spring break. The team's schedule for the week will be finalized at a later date but will include 10 contests against teams from all over the country.
The Foresters are scheduled to play their home opener against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Wednesday, March 16, and they are slated to host Carthage College a week later. Addition non-conference contests will be announced at a later date.
The opening weekend of Midwest Conference play features doubleheaders at Knox College and Illinois College April 9-10. The Foresters will be at home the following weekend, taking on Grinnell College on Friday and Cornell College for Parents Day on Saturday, April 16. After traveling to Ripon College the next Saturday, Lake Forest will host Monmouth College for Alumni Day and Mia Gurevitz Day on Sunday, April 24. The final weekend of the regular season includes road games at Beloit College on Saturday and Senior Day against Lawrence University on Sunday, May 1.
The top team in the standings is the conference champion and will host the next three in a double-elimination tournament May 6-7 with the winner of the event earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Lake Forest has participated in every four-team MWC Tournament since the turn of the century, hosted the event 10 times and won it nine times during that span.
The Foresters have claimed five conference titles and made five appearances in the MWC Tournament with Joe Kinsella as head coach. He enters his 16th year in that role with an overall record of 334-212-1 and a league mark of 165-31.
