The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division III soccer teams on Wednesday and Lake Forest College's Joao Godoy was among the honorees.
A CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-America® selection, Godoy was a senior midfielder and one of the Foresters' captains this spring. In four games he scored a pair of goals and assisted on another, raising his career point total to 34 on 15 goals and 4 assists. Five of the 2018 Second Team All-Midwest Conference selection's scores over the last four years were official game-winners, including one this season.
A finance and mathematics double major, Godoy graduated with a 3.93 cumulative grade point average and was a three-time Academic All-MWC honoree.
Godoy is the Lake Forest College men's soccer team's second Academic All-America® player in as many years and the third in program history. Gaston Aubert was a third team selection in 2019 and Mahir Mameldzija earned first team accolades twice and was the 2013 Division III Academic All-American of the Year®.
