The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Teams on Thursday and a pair of Forester seniors made the list.
Goaltender Jan Roessler and midfielder Joao Godoy were among the 11 NCAA Division III honorees from District 7, which includes schools in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.
Roessler started each of the Foresters' four games and was 3-1-0 with a 1.20 goals against average this spring. He ranks ninth in program history with 17 career victories, including a team record-tying 10 while earning Second Team All-Midwest Conference honors in 2019, and graduated with a 1.37 goals against average. The finance and computer science double major also maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average over the last four years, earned Academic All-MWC accolades three times, received the MWC's Roy LeClere Award for posting the highest GPA of any male athlete in the league during his junior year, and was recently presented with the College's Senior Scholar-Athlete Award for his GPA over the last three semesters.
Godoy scored a pair of goals and assisted on another while joining Roessler as a team captain this spring. The 2018 Second Team All-MWC selection started 37 of his 49 appearances as a Forester and finished with 34 career points on 15 goals and four assists. Five of his scores were official game-winners, including one this season. A finance and mathematics double major, Godoy graduated with a 3.93 cumulative grade point average and was a three-time Academic All-MWC honoree.
Roessler and Godoy will now appear on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.
