The Lake Forest College men's soccer team hosted and defeated Benedictine University 6-1 on Wednesday and is now 2-1-0 on the season. Forester junior Mahir Mameledzija and freshman Dylan Hartman each scored a pair of goals in the contest.
Dylan's older brother Jordan Hartman started the scoring just four minutes and 16 seconds into the game. The unassisted goal was the first of the year for the junior.
After the Eagles scored at 20:49 to tie the game, Lake Forest regained the lead just 85 seconds later on the first goal of the game by Mameledzija. He was assisted by freshman Jeremiah Erzen.
Dylan Hartman took a pass from sophomore Max Shaw and converted a breakaway opportunity with 8:12 remaining on the first half clock to give the home team a 3-1 lead.
The Foresters outschot Benedictine 7-3 in the first 45 minutes and 11-4 after halftime.
Dylan Hartman netted his second score of the game and third this season seven minutes into the second half.
Mameledzija scored again at 60:20 off a pass from freshman Themis Mourikes. It was his team-high fifth goal of the year. Mameledzija is now alone in fourth place in team history with 31 career goals and in sixth with 75 career points.
Junior Nicholas Kliminski finished off the scoring with 5:41 to play. His fourth goal this season was assisted by freshman Auddie Hynd, who was making his Forester debut.
Lake Forest junior goalkeeper Ian Taylor made a pair of saves and earned his first victory of the season.
The Foresters' next game will be played at Milwaukee School of Engineering Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
