The Midwest Conference announced its end-of-season awards for men's basketball on Thursday and a pair of Foresters were recognized.
Sean Espinosa was named First Team All-MWC for the third time in his career. The senior point guard ranked second in the league with 20.9 points and 5.0 assists per game during conference play. He reached double figures in points in each of his 15 appearances against league opponents and finished with 20 or more eight times with a high of 37 against Monmouth College on November 30. Espinosa finished his career as the Foresters' all-time leader with 484 assists and his 1,635 points are the program's highest total in more than 50 years and ranks third overall.
Junior wing Johnny Roeser was a Second Team All-MWC selection after his 11.6 rebounds per game were at least two more than any other player in the league. He also ranked third in the conference with 1.5 blocks, eighth with 1.5 steals, and 10th with 14.6 points per MWC contest. Roeser, who transferred to Lake Forest prior to the 2020-21 academic year and played in his first conference season this winter, was also named MWC Newcomer of the Year. He is the first player in program history to earn that award.
The 2021-22 Foresters tied for fifth place in the league standing with a 9-7 record in conference play.
