Freshman Yaneli Guajardo posted the 17th-fastest 5-kilometer time in program history to lead the Lake Forest College women's cross country team to an 11th-place finish at Augustana College's Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Friday. The Forester men placed 10th.

Because of the heat the women's race was shortened from six to five kilometers and Guajardo placed 12th in the 244-runner field with a time of 19:48.2. She was the Foresters' top runner for the third time in as many races this season. Sophomore Briana Campbell was next on the team and 67th overall at 21:09.8 and classmate Ashley Canner was 72nd in 21:15.5. Fellow sophomores Ariane Balaram and Lauren Giurini finished 79th and 91st with a times of 21:27.5 and 21:34.5, respectively.

The men's course was clipped from eight kilometers to four miles and senior Jonathan Stern led the Lake Forest men for the third consecutive meet. His time of 20:46.2 was good for ninth place out of 245 in the race and junior Jorge Villanueva was close behind, crossing the finish line in 14th place in 20:51.6. Sophomore Alex Lytle was next on the team in 64th place with a time of 21:57.3 and the Foresters' fourth runner was junior Sam Barton, who completed the course in 22:32.9, and sophomore Philip Wilson rounded out the top five in 112th place with a time of 22:49.3.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point won the 17-team women's race and Olivet Nazarene University was atop the men's standings, which included 16 schools.

The meet was held at Saukie Golf Course, which will also host the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on November 11.

Lake Forest will have a pair of weekends off from competition before traveling to Winneconne, Wisconsin, for the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational on October 14.
