The Lake Forest College volleyball team had its 2012 season come to an end Friday at the Midwest Conference Tournament, which is being hosted by Cornell College. The Foresters were defeated 25-18, 25-23, 25-17 by St. Norbert College in the semifinals of the tourney.
Lake Forest senior Molly McCloskey's finished the contest with a match-high 12 kills and team-high 17 digs. Her 1,254 career kills rank sixth in program history while her 1,257 digs are eighth. Among the five players ahead of McCloskey on the kills list is fellow senior Cori Cooper, who had seven on Friday and finished her career with 1,258. McCloskey and Cooper are two of just four players in team history with at least 1,000 career kills and digs.
Forester sophomore setter Torie Pasiewicz also reached double figures in digs with 10 and tallied 29 assists on the day. Senior Tia Rupnik finished with nine digs in the match and 1,547 in her career, third-most in school history.
Lake Forest finished the season with an overall record of 17-10 and the program's highest victory total since the 2005 season. St. Norbert raised its record to 24-8 and will take on league champion and tournament host Cornell College in tomorrow's final.
