Lake Forest College volleyball players Molly McCloskey and Tia Rupnik were named Midwest Conference Offensive and Defensive Performers of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday after helping lead the Foresters to a pair of wins and a berth in this weekend's four-team MWC Tournament.
McClockey, a senior outside hitter, led all player in the match with a career-high 26 kills in a dramatic five-set victory at Monmouth College Friday night. Three of her kills fought off match point opportunities for Monmouth and she added 24 digs, two assists, an ace, and a block on the night. McCloskey also had a match-high 15 kills and 14 digs in the team's three-set win at Knox College on Saturday that clinched a spot in the tournament.
Rupnik, a senior libero, tallied a match-high 32 digs at Monmouth and also served up a pair of aces in the match. She reached double figures in digs again with 10 at Knox and added a couple of assists on the afternoon.
McCloskey leads the conference and ranks 16th in the nation with 4.04 kills per set this season. Rupnik's 5.02 digs per set lead the team and rank fifth in the league and she moved into third place in program history with 1,538 digs in her career.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. Rupnik also earned the award on September 11.
