  • Head Coach Chris Kane Leaves Lake Forest after Eight Seasons

    Forester head men's and women's tennis coach Chris Kane officially announced Wednesday (June 23) that he will not return for a ninth year at Lake Forest College. Kane accepted an offer to be the head men's and women's tennis coach at NCAA Division I Western Illinois University. A search for his replacement will begin immediately.

    The Forester women's tennis team suffered a pair of losses at the Midwest Conference Team Championship Tournament on Friday (October 16). Lake Forest fell 5-1 to Beloit College in the semifinals and 5-2 to Grinnell College in the third-place match. Losses in the final dual matches of the season left the team with a 10-6-1 record. St. Norbert College, which defeated Grinnell 5-4 in the semifinals, claimed the league title with a 5-1 triumph over Beloit.

    The Lake Forest College women's tennis team defeated Monmouth College 9-0 on Sunday (October 4) and is now 9-4 overall this season. The Foresters also raised their Midwest Conference South Division record to 3-1 and earned a berth in the four-team MWC Championship Tournament on October 16. The Fighting Scots fell to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in league play.

Illinois College is winless in six matches, including three MWC contests, this year.

Lake Forest now owns a 5-2 record on the season. Cornell raised its record to 3-6 while Wisconsin Lutheran fell to 3-7.

    Lake Forest College Athletic Director Jackie Slaats recently announced that Chris Kane, head coach of the Forester men's tennis team, will join the women's tennis staff as associate head coach this fall. He will then take over as head coach, replacing Chris Pier, in 2010.
