Junior Iman Shepard scored late in the first half to secure the win for the Lake Forest women's soccer team against Concordia University Chicago on Sunday.
Senior Julia Larson got the Foresters on the board first when she took a pass from junior Alyssa Xanos in the midfield. Larson went high, over the keeper's head, and found the net from 30 yards out.
The Cougars answered the Foresters' goal a little over a 11 minutes later.
Shepard's goal in the 42nd minute of play returned the lead to Lake Forest going into the half. Sophomore Katherine Peticolas took the ball down the left-hand side, cut back, and crossed the ball behind the Concordia back line, where Shephard ran far post and slid it past a diving Concordia Chicago keeper.
Freshman Greta Gerard scored her first career goal and the only goal of the second half when Xanos hit a corner kick that challenged the keeper, and Gerard ran through the defense and deflected the ball into the net.
The win on Sunday brings the Lake Forest's record to 2-1. They will play at home on Tuesday, September 7th against Wisconsin Lutheran College at 4:30 PM.
