Lake Forest College women's hockey player Michelle Greeneway was named Forester Athlete of the Week for the second time this season on Thursday. She helped the team win twice and clinch the 2014 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association regular season title last weekend.
Greeneway, a sophomore forward, scored a pair of goals in the Foresters' 4-1 victory at Concordia University Wisconsin and posted her fourth hat trick and eighth multi-goal game in a 3-2 triumph at Marian University on Saturday. Lake Forest finished the regular season with a 13-3-2 record in NCHA play and league-high 28 points to claim the second conference title in team history.
With five goals over the weekend, Greeneway set a new program record with 29 scores on the season, one more than Kim Herring's previous mark of 28. Greeneway leads the nation in goals and her 1.82 points per game also rank first in the country.
Lake Forest has a bye in the quarterfinal round of the NCHA Tournament this Saturday and will host the Slaats Cup Four the following weekend (March 7-8).
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Greeneway, who also earned her second NCHA Offensive Player of the Week award of the season on Tuesday, has now earned the College's weekly honor four times in her career as a hockey player and twice in soccer.
