Lake Forest College women's hockey player Michelle Greeneway was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after recording a hat trick in the team's 4-1 triumph over visiting St. Norbert College on Saturday.
Greeneway, a sophomore forward, scored to give the Foresters a 2-0 lead at the 11:57 mark of the opening period. It turned out to be her third official game-winning goal of the season. She also converted a power play opportunity at 11:13 in the second period and added an additional insurance goal at 11:50 in the third.
It was the third hat trick and fifth multi-goal game of the year for Greeneway, who is tied for first in the nation with 22 goals on the season. She also leads the Foresters with 32 points and is just the second player in team history to surpass 30 points in back-to-back seasons.
The hat trick also extended Greeneway's streak of recording at least one point to 16 appearances. That streak ended in the team's 7-1 loss at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Sunday. She has scored at least one goal in 14 of her 19 games this season.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Greeneway, who was also named NCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, has now earned the College's weekly honor three times in her career as a hockey player and twice in soccer.
