Lake Forest College women's hockey player Melissa Paluch was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead her team to victories over visiting Finlandia University and College of St. Scholastica the previous weekend.
Paluch, a sophomore forward and team captain, scored two goals and assisted on another in Friday night's 7-2 rout of Finlandia. She was +4 in the contest.
Lake Forest moved into a three-way tie for first place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association standings by defeating St. Scholastica 4-2 on Saturday. Paluch scored the game's first goal and netted a power play score early in the second period to give the home team the lead for good.
Paluch is tied for eighth in the NCHA with 24 points on 12 goals and 12 assists. Her 57 career points in just her second season are tied for the 10th-highest total in program history.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Paluch was also named NCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
