Sophomore forward Maeve Connelly scored her second goal of the season and the game winner at the 15:00 mark of the third period to lead the Lake Forest women's hockey team to a 3-2 victory over UW-Eau Claire on Friday night. The Foresters have won four straight.
Trailing 1-0 after the first period, the Foresters (5-2-1, 4-2 NCHA) tied the game at 16:26 of the second period on a power play goal by Laura Reckdenwald.
Jessica Dare's power play goal at 7:27 of the third period gave the Foresters a 2-1 lead, which they would hold for the remainder of the game. Connelly then scored at the 15:00 mark of the period.
EW-Eau Claire (1-5-1, 1-4-0 NCHA) scored at 18:07 of the third period to cut the lead to 3-2.
Lake Forest goalie Stacey Dierking made 20 saves including seven in the second period and eight in the third period for the win. EW-Eau Claire goalie Morgan Pieper stopped 21 shots.
The two teams meet again on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
