The Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 60-44 by visiting St. Norbert College Friday evening. Ten Foresters scored but none had more than eight points in the contest.
Juinor forward Liz Radtke led the home team with eight points and junior point guard Sam Schuring finished with seven. Radtke also led the squad with five rebounds and Schuring with four assists and three steals.
The Foresters shot just 25.4 percent from the field and made just one three-pointer in 18 attempts. St. Norbert shot 44.2 percent from the floor, made five of 10 tried from beyond the arc, and out-rebounded the home team 47-37. Lake Forest had the edge in turnovers, committing just 13 to the Green Knights' 19.
St. Norbert jumped out to a 10-3 lead but the Foresters scored seven points in a row to tie the game. A 16-5 Green Knight run gave the visitors the lead for good and the margin was 10 points (29-19) at halftime.
Lake Forest trimmed the lead to eight on a pair of Schuring free throws with 16:14 to play but would get no closer. The Knights made their next three shots and the difference grew to as many as 17 points late in the contest.
The loss drops the Foresters' overall record to 6-7, which includes a Midwest Conference mark of 5-4. St. Norbert is now 12-3 overall and a perfect 10-0 in league play.
Lake Forest will try to even their overall record and earn a split in the season series with Ripon College tomorrow afternoon at 2:00.
