Lake Forest College women's basketball player Sam Schuring was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Monday for her performance in a pair of games last week.
Schuring, a junior point guard, scored a game-high 23 points on Tuesday in a 61-59 loss at the University of Chicago, the nation's second-ranked team. She also pulled down seven rebounds and added three assists and three steals in the contest.
The Foresters edged out visiting Beloit College 73-71 to open conference play on Sunday. Schuring led the home team with 18 points, dished out a game-high five assists, and recorded three more steals.
Schuring leads Lake Forest with 14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.8 steals per game so far this season.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. Schuring also earned the award once last season.
