Sophomore Yaneli Guajardo broke her own school record and was the runner-up in the mile at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge on Saturday.

Guajardo's time of 5:16.46 was good for second place in the 47-runner field and was more than four seconds faster than the previous program record she set last year. Senior Emily Staufer, who ranks second in team history in that event, was eighth on Saturday and her time of 5:27.95 was more than seven seconds faster than her previous career-best.

Junior Philip Wilson was 14th out of 42 competitors in the men's mile with a time of 4:34.14 and senior Jorge Villanueva was the next to cross the finish line just .62 seconds later.

The other team record set on Saturday came in the women's 400m run, which sophomore Ellen Szostak completed in 1:05.24 to break the previous mark by more than two seconds.

The 800m run provided two more career-best performances by the second-fastest female and male in program history. Sophomore Audrey Paglia finished her four laps in 2:32.23 and senior Christian Aldana posted a time of 2:01.42.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women and Oshkosh men finished first in the team standings.

Lake Forest will travel to Monmouth College for the 2019 Midwest Conference Championships next Friday and Saturday.
