Freshman Yaneli Guajardo turned in the Lake Forest College track team's top performance on Friday, day one of the 2018 Midwest Conference Championship Meet at Ripon College.
Guajardo finished fourth in the league in the mile run with a time of 5:21.18.
The Forester women's team also got a fifth-place finish from sophomore Ariane Balaram in the 5000m run. She completed 25 laps around the track in 18:50.64.
Leading the Lake Forest men on Friday was junior Christian Aldana, who placed sixth in the mile with a time of 4:31.18.
The Foresters had a pair of runners earn points in the 5000m run. Junior Jorge Villanueva finished seventh in 15:39.73 while senior Jonathan Stern was the next person to cross the line six seconds later.
Competing in distance events and relays only, Lake Forest accumulated nine points on the women's side and seven on the men's.
Competition at the meet will continue on Saturday and the first running event will be the distance medley relay, which starts at noon.
