Lake Forest College softball player Kaylee Purgatorio was named Midwest Conference Position Performer of the Week on Monday for her performance in a doubleheader sweep of North Central College last Thursday.
Purgatorio singlehandedly outscored the Cardinal in both games, crossing home plate three times in an 11-2 Forester victory in the opener and twice in game two's 4-1 triumph.
The sophomore shortstop was 3-for-4 with a triple, walk, stolen base, and two runs batted in during game one. The team's leadoff hitter also drew a pair of walks in the nightcap and has now reached base safely on 8 of 12 plate appearances so far this season.
In addition to her exploits at the plate on the bases, Purgatorio also had three putouts and four assists without an error in the doubleheader.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors.
