Three Foresters Named First Team All-MWC, Two Second Team

The Midwest Conference announced the 2019 All-MWC Men's Soccer Teams on Thursday and five Lake Forest players were listed. Seniors Gaston Aubert, Lucas Geib, and Marcos Hernandez were named to the first team while senior Jack Carlson and junior Jan Roessler were second team honorees.

Aubert leads the conference with 15 assists and 37 points and ranks fifth and tied-for-27th in the nation in those categories, respectively. He recorded at least one point in 15 of 19 games and either scored or assisted on 26 of the Foresters' 38 goals this year. Aubert was a Second Team All-MWC selection in 2016 and 2017 before missing all but the opener last year because of injury. Aubert finished his career ranked tied-for-sixth in program history with 24 career assists, seventh with 30 goals, and ninth with 84 points.

Geib is tied for the league lead with a dozen goals and ranks tied-for-fourth in the conference in points with 27. He was especially successful late in the year, scoring 10 times in Lake Forest's final nine games. This year's First Team All-MWC accolade is his second in a row after a Second Team selection following his sophomore season. Geib completed his four years at the College ranked fourth in team history with 37 goals and tied-for-seventh with 87 points.

Hernandez led a Lake Forest defense that allowed just 22 goals in 19 games and limited opponents to fewer than five shots on goal per contest. He also scored twice himself, heading in corner kicks for the official game-winning goals on back-to-back days October 26-27.

Carlson was also a key component of the Foresters' success on defense and he chipped in at the other end of the field with his first career goal against Cornell College on September 29.

Roessler started every game at goalkeeper, posting a 1.08 goals against average with four shutouts on the year.

Lake Forest finished the 2019 season 10-8-1 overall and tied for first in the standings at 8-1-0 in league play. The Foresters also earned a spot in the four-team MWC Tournament for the ninth year in a row. At least one player on the team has now earned all-conference honors in 39 consecutive seasons and Lake Forest has had at least one first team honoree 10 years in a row.
