Senior Lucas Geib scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner with three seconds left, as Lake Forest edged out Monmouth College 2-1 on the road on Saturday.
Geib tied the game at the 54:02 mark and the score remained 1-1 until the closing seconds when he took a pass from fellow senior Gaston Aubert and scored his 10th career game-winning goal. Geib now has six tallies on the year and 31 in his career, the sixth-highest total in team history.
The Foresters played all but the first 5:07 of the game with just 10 players on the field and fell behind at the 5:15 mark. They still out-shot the home team 19-4 and put 10 of those shots on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Jan Roessler earned the win and, like the Foresters, is now 7-6-1 on the year with victories in each of the team's five Midwest Conference games.
Monmouth fell to 7-5-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the league.
Lake Forest will continue the weekend with a game at Knox College, the MWC's second-place team, Sunday afternoon at 1:30.
