The Lake Forest College men's basketball team fell 96-64 at Ripon College on Saturday.
Already ahead by 10, the Red Hawks outscored the Foresters 31-8 over the final nine minutes of the opening period and went into the locker room at halftime leading 60-27.
Lake Forest started the second half with an 11-2 run and eventually closed to within 23 points but got no closer.
Four Foresters scored in double figures, including sophomore wing Johnny Roeser, who posted his second double-double of the season with a team-high 14 points and 12 rebounds. He also led all players in the contest with five assists. Freshman Val Oplchenski and sophomore forward Frank Siegien were next on the team with 11 points apiece while freshman wing Adam Weingard added 10 off the bench.
Lake Forest had a 43-34 edge in rebounds but committed 22 turnovers to the Red Hawks' five. Ripon doubled up the visitors 16-8 on three pointers and outscored them 12-8 at the free throw line.
The loss was the Foresters' fourth in as many games this season while Ripon was playing for the first time in 2020-21.
The same two teams will face each other at Lake Forest next Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
